How to Search the Georgia Sex Offender Registry

The GBI registry offers several ways to narrow a Long County sex offender search. Start broadly enough to avoid excluding a valid match, then compare the resulting profile with identifiers you already know.

The 72-Hour Registration Clock

Georgia requires a person subject to registration to report to the sheriff within 72 hours after release, placement on supervision, or entry into the state. Qualifying changes must also be reported within 72 hours. Each year, a registrant renews in person during the 72 hours before the birthday and supplies updated photograph and fingerprint information. A homeless registrant must report a sleeping location.

After the local report, sheriffs update changes within two business days, and the public registry updates daily. Those are different clocks: the registrant's duty, the sheriff's submission period, and the GBI display cycle can leave a short gap between a real-world change and the public profile.

Georgia Registration Levels and Requirements

Georgia's risk levels are not federal SORNA tiers with automatic 10-, 25-, and lifetime terms. Lifetime Baseline and Court Release

A Long County registrant does not leave the registry merely because a risk level changes or a common federal-tier period passes. Georgia's baseline is lifetime registration, subject to a court granting release to a person who meets the statutory conditions. The petition belongs in Superior Court; for an out-of-state conviction, Georgia routes it to the Superior Court in the county where the person now resides.
